Current Opportunity

 

We are currently seeking a Geologist to join our energetic and diverse team. Based within the CSG Subsurface team, the Geologist is responsible for analysis and maintenance of all geological data including designing, planning and implementing drilling programs while providing technically robust, geological advice and interpretations.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation and reporting of Exploration, Appraisal and Development opportunities while providing operational support as new wells and data are made available.

 

Key accountabilities:

 

  • Provide geological support to producing fields working closely with; production, drilling and reservoir engineers, geologists, geophysicists, environmental scientists and hydrogeologists. 
  • Be a focal point for operations geology as it relates to existing and new appraisal and development wells, including the design and implementation of geological data acquisition, analysis programs and other operational decisions as tasked.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of Field Development plans; development of reserves and resource assessments, annual reserve audits and regulatory reporting.
  • Take an active role in reservoir management, identifying and taking ownership of continuous improvements of business processes and efficiencies where able.
  • Generation of in-field opportunities and well proposals for additional appraisal and development wells and in-wellbore evaluation activities including quality assurance of geological and well data acquisition, reporting and management for all development activities, formation evaluation and petrophysics.
  • Reporting (written and verbal) on technical studies and appropriate presentation to management, partners and Government bodies, alongside performing post well studies and integration of new data to existing maps and models.
  • Presentation to senior management, Board and Joint Venture partners as required, demonstrating and communicating a thorough understanding of risk and uncertainty principles.  

 

About You

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Geology or related geological tertiary qualifications.
  • 5 + years’ experience working in the CSG industry (Surat & Bowen Basin experience essential).
  • Strong current computational and analytical skills, including working in petrotechnical software, with experience in the Petrel Suite highly desirable.
  • Experienced in projects and operations geology, with a strong understanding of subsurface workflows, risk, uncertainty and petrophysics.
  • Practiced in handling and interpretating large data sets, applying digital solutions/tools were able (e.g. Python)
  • Experienced working in a multi-disciplinary subsurface team supporting field appraisal and development plans.
  • Independent, self-motivated, creative, results oriented, can work to given deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle some ambiguity in analysis.
