Current Opportunity

 

We are seeking an experienced Subsurface Engineering Manager to lead our reservoir and petroleum engineering function. This pivotal role provides strategic and technical oversight, driving performance optimization across Senex’s CSG assets. You will be responsible for:

 

  • Leading reservoir characterisation, performance prediction & analysis, annual reserves, and development planning
  • Supporting drilling, production, and infrastructure investment decisions
  • Driving innovation and continuous improvement in subsurface engineering activities
  • Serving as a technical authority for subsurface risk, ensuring integration across key teams
  • Engaging with the investor technical assurance committee and regulatory bodies.

 

Key accountabilities will include:

 

  • Opportunity Identification and Assessment
  • Play, Asset, and Type Well Characterisation
  • Technical Uncertainty and Risk Analysis
  • Well Surveillance, Reservoir Management, and Production Forecasting
  • Performance Monitoring, Analysis, Development and Maintenance of Subsurface Models
  • Annual Reserves Process
  • Internal, Stakeholder and Investor Reporting
  • Subsurface Engineering Leadership.

 

About You

 

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, with a Master’s degree being highly desirable. With 15+ years of upstream experience, extensive exposure to CSG operations, and a deep understanding of reservoir behaviour, coal properties, and production performance, this role demands a seasoned professional.

 

In addition, you will have:

 

  • Professional Engineer (CPEng), RPEQ, or Qualified Reserves Evaluator preferred
  • Expertise in CSG reservoir behaviour, production forecasting, and economic evaluations
  • Proven leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary technical teams
  • Strong analytical and numerical modelling skills
  • Ability to manage large datasets and visualizations using BI tools
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to convey technical information in an easy to understand, insightful manner
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize high-impact decisions
  • Collaborative leadership style with coaching and mentoring capabilities.
