We are seeking an experienced reservoir engineer with coal seam gas (CSG) expertise, demonstrable leadership experience and a genuine desire to remain a working member of the team. This role is ideal for those who want to continue solving complex technical challenges while also guiding and mentoring others. This role is not about stepping away from the technical work, you will remain with your hands on the tools, delivering core technical outputs every day.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Leading the corporate reservoir and petroleum engineering function
- Delivering reservoir engineering input for development planning, asset characterisation, and performance analysis
- Building and maintaining type wells, production forecasts, and reservoir models
- Conducting pressure transient analysis (PTA) and other diagnostic studies
- Leading performance monitoring, production surveillance, and BI data-driven insights to inform decision-making
- Contributing technical input into drilling, production, and infrastructure investment planning
- Quantifying and communicating technical uncertainties and risks in support of development strategies
- Managing the annual reserves process
- Preparing technical reports, and leading technical assurance discussions both internally and externally
- Providing leadership, guidance, mentorship, and quality assurance to other engineers in the team.
About You
You are a qualified engineer with more than 10 years of direct reservoir engineering experience, primarily in CSG, who thrives on delivering high-quality technical work and is ready to take on additional leadership responsibilities. With extensive experience working CSG assets, and a deep understanding of reservoir
behaviour, coal properties, and production performance, this role demands a seasoned professional. Exceptional technical communication and presentation skills are a must.
In addition, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering (Master’s desirable)
- Professional accreditation as CPEng, RPEQ; QPRRE (desirable)
- Proven leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary technical teams
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize high impact decisions
- Collaborative leadership style with coaching and mentoring capabilities.
You’ll have direct experience in:
- Type well generation
- Analytical and numerical modelling
- Decline curve analysis
- Pressure Transient Analysis (PTA), production forecasting, and reserves assessment
- Economic evaluation
- Industry-standard modelling tools: IHS CBM, Petrel, Eclipse
- Translating complex technical information into clear, insightful narratives.
