The Opportunity
The Electrical & Instrument Technician is responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of electrical and instrumentation equipment within the Surat Operations group.
The purpose of the role is to:
- Ensure that all works comply with Senex Energy HSE Policies and Procedures
- Be familiar with hazardous area electrical standards and practices
- Maintain, service and repair field electrical and instrumentation equipment including: generators, VSD’s, RTU’s, drive heads, transmitters, radios, pumps, metering devices, office & workshop electrical equipment, etc
- Have active involvement and participation with commissioning and start up of new equipment
- Develop and maintain professional relationship and communication interfaces with the projects team
- Liaise with the Brisbane based IE&C Engineer to provide field support for associated activities
The key responsibilities of the position include:
- Applying Workplace Health and Safety standards to all business activity and adhere to relevant policies
- Complying with all Senex Energy policies and government regulations including but not limited to WHSE, aboriginal heritage and land ownership legislation, HR/ER/IR, Finance
- Attend and contribute to pre start job meetings (ice breakers)
- Attend Senex site Toolbox Meetings
- Attend and contribute to contractor Toolbox Meetings as required
- Ensure compliance with Senex weed hygiene requirements
- Assist with the development and implementation of SOP’s and JHA’s
- Maintain well site availability at agreed levels
- Assist with the development and implementation of preventative maintenance systems
- Ensure that SOP’s are adhered to and that field JHA’s are properly developed as required
- Supervise and coordinate Operation’s E&I Contractor general site activities
- Ensure that HAZOBs and incident reports are compiled and submitted as required
- Assist with incident investigation as required
- Conduct site safety interventions as required
The incumbent will require the following qualifications and experience:
- 5 + years of experience in upstream Oil and Gas Project operations
- Demonstrated gas operations experience
- Trade Certificate in the related field is required
- Training and competency in Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas is required
- Mobile Equipment Licence is highly desirable
- Permit to Work training
- Four Wheel Drive driver certification
- First Aid & CPR certification
This position is offered as a rotational role working 15 on 13 off. Local applications encouraged; however DIDO (maximum 4 hours) and FIFO are also available. We have 2 x positions available, one is situated close to Roma, and the other is closer to Wandoan.
